Amerisale Recommended Third-Party Software List

From time to time we are asked to recommend software for a specific need to our customers. While we make no guarantees, make no warranties, accept no responsibility for and offer no technical support for these programs, this list covers many aspects of what you might need while working on the Internet, or wherever. These programs are provided for ease of locating and downloading. Some programs, often titled Shareware require payment for use after an evaluation period, or other system. Some programs, often titled Freeware are distributed freely, and the authors will accept donations or contributions to further their work. Sometimes software is Open Source, where a single developer or community of developers may be working to further the development of the software, and may also have a special license that grants you the ability to freely use the software under reasonable conditions. Please support these software authors, developers and companies by registering the programs you use, paying appropriate license or registration fees if necessary, making donations if you can, or support the communities that develop the software in ways described on their web sites. Please read the license(s) for any software you use, and support Open Source, Shareware and Freeware developers. Without your support many programs cannot exist. We have provided a link to the software's author/developer/company/community web site where you may find more information on that program.

Paint Shop Pro- An image editor, supporting a large number of formats. Full featured, rivals Adobe Photoshop. www.jasc.com

Irfan View- An image viewer, supporting many many image formats, as well as video and sound files. Excellent MPG player, fast, light and clear playback. Fast image viewing of GIF, JPG, PNG, and TIFF just to name a few, plus many rare formats. Thumbnail previews, slideshow, drag and drop operation, color adjustments, effects, resizing, cropping, batch support, and on and on. IrfanView is freeware. www.ifranview.com.

Edit Plus (Spelling Dictionary)- A great text editor for MS Windows environments. Syntax highlighting, line numbers, very large file support, advanced search and replace features, search across text files, spell checking, non-cluttered, non-loud interface, small footprint, and ftp editing are some of the main features of the program. Useful for simple text editing, HTML editing, programming, viewing large ASCII files, and many other uses. EditPlus is distributed as Shareware. You can freely download and try it for 30 days. If you find it useful and decide to keep it over 30-day evaluation period, you should pay the registration fee at www.editplus.com.

WinZip 8.1- A file compression program focusing on the famous and most popular Zip format. The WinZip Wizard is very easy to use, fast and reliable. WinZip adds right-click functionality to your MS Windows Explorer shell so creating a zip file by selecting files and folders in Windows is a snap. Trying out zipped up software, or unzipping files is also a breeze. WinZip offers this evaluation version, which can be registered through www.winzip.com.

SmartFTP- A fast, easy to use FTP Client to upload and download files. Useful for maintaining your web site, accessing public FTP servers, etc. Easy to use/familiar Explorer-interface, reliable, and routinely updated by the authors. Donations can be made to the authors at www.smartftp.com.

Adobe Acrobat Reader- A PDF file viewer. The industry standard from Adobe. www.adobe.com.

Nero Burning Rom- A CD R/RW burning program. Highly configurable and reliable. Nero gives you full control over burning CDs, including hard to adjust and extremely detailed options that many programs leave out. If you are serious about burning CD-ROMs, try Nero. Burn MP3 files directly to an audio CD. This is a demonstration version of Nero. Nero can be licensed from www.ahead.de.

NTI CD-Maker- A CD R/RW burning program. Easy to use, very configurable, and reliable. NTI CD-Maker also gives you control over many aspects of CD burning that are kept from you in other programs, resulting in more reliable CD burning. An easy to use wizard guides you through the process burning your CDs. Also burn MP3s directly to an audio CD. NTI CD-Maker is distributed here as Shareware. Registration can be made at www.nticdmaker.com.

PocoMail- An e-mail client with a nice interface, multiple account support, nice integrated check-as-you-type spell checker, HTML support, address book, does not share the same security vulnerabilities as MS clients, does not automatically execute or view attachments and excellent junk/spam/bulk mail filtering support. PocoMail is Shareware, and can be registered at www.pocomail.com.

Pegasus Mail- A long standing, trusted, reliable Freeware e-mail client supporting mail filtering, multiple identities, and extremely powerful feature list. Pegasus Mail is Freeware. www.pmail.com.

Eudora- The original standard in e-mail clients from the Internet boom. Eudora has a long standing reputation as a solid email client, featuring multiple accounts, plugins, mail filtering, and easy to use. This version of Eudora is Adware. Eudora can be registered at www.eudora.com.

Free Agent- A reliable Newsreader (USENET/Newsgroups) with an easy to use interface and many features. Free Agent is Freeware. www.forteinc.com.

Agent- The Commercial/Shareware version of Free Agent, with many more features. Agent is Shareware which can be registered at www.forteinc.com.
